Photo Edit Software From Adobe And Corel
In the world of software for editing photos, two names stand out: Adobe Photoshop and Corel. Take a quick flick through any photography magazine, and you'll find mention after mention of these photo editing software packages. Adobe Photoshop seems to be the most frequently mentioned - so much so that "to photoshop" looks likely to enter the English language as a verb meaning "to use software to edit photos".
While Adobe Photoshop in particular seems to be the software of choice the pros use to edit photos, there are other packages on the market that are less expensive and don't' have a huge range of tools that the majority of us - who only want to make our family snaps look good and maybe make the odd card or silly "magazine" cover - will never use.
So what's out there for software to edit photos that isn't one of the Big Two?
There are a number of software packages out there for editing photos, some of which are available as free downloads. However, remember the old adage that "you get what you pay for" and any free software downloads for editing software is probably designed to give you only a small taste of what's available so you'll come back and buy a more advanced version. Some other names in the world of photo-edit software are PhotoImpact (Ulead), Digital Image Suite (Microsoft) PhotoPlus (Serif), PaintShop Pro (Jaso), PhotoStudio (ArcSoft), FotoFinish Studio(FotoFinish), PhotoSuite (Roxio), Photo Explosion (Nova) and Picture It (Microsoft). Whatever software you choose so you can edit your photos, whether it's a free download or a bought-and-paid for package, you need to make sure that the software will edit your photos the way you want to. You need to make sure that the software package has the basic photo-edit tools like cropping, red eye reduction, touch-ups, and rotating and resizing. Cloning tools, layering and special effects are also handy tools in any software that you might use to really have fun when you edit your photos. And read the reviews to make sure that the software allows you to have multiple "undos" if you make a mistake when editing your photos. Some software packages have a nifty photo edit tool that allows you to create animations from your photos. This means that you can send an animated picture where the subject is actually waving at the viewer or that shot of your dog can wag its tail - or you can show off your new cabriolet opening and shuting its top! Check also that the software package will allow you to share your photos the way you want to after you've edited them. A good software package will allow you to save your images in a number of file formats (JPEG, GIF, BMP, etc) and in such a way that they can be easily posted on the web, used as screensavers, emailed to friends, or whatever else you want to do with them.
